Group meditation: Wednesday evenings – Interbeing Sangha and Earth Holder Sangha ONLINE

Every Wednesday
7:00-8:30pm CT

Currently meeting ONLINE through Zoom.

Our Wednesday evening meditation group alternates subject matter each week.

Interbeing Sangha is a meditation group practicing and studying the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. The weekly practice consists of two sitting meditations, walking meditation, singing/chanting, and a dharma talk or study. On the first Wednesday of each month, we recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings during the gathering and discuss them.

Part of the Awakening Heart Community at Dallas Meditation Center, our meditation practice is inspired by the tradition of Plum Village and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.

The Earth Holder Sangha is the branch of the Plum Village tree that applies Thich Nhat Hanh’s core teachings on engaged Buddhism, mindful living, racial and social justice, and inter-being with Mother Earth at this time of ecological crisis.  The Earth Holder Sangha at Dallas Meditation Center is a part of the Interbeing Sangha and follows the same format but with readings, presentations, and discussions geared toward environmental stewardship, issues of climate change, social justice, and racism. They meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Open to all levels of meditation experience, from beginners to more experienced meditators. We welcome persons of any spiritual tradition, including those not part of any spiritual or faith tradition.

Fee by donation: $15-20 per person suggested (click to make an online donation now)

IN-PERSON EVENT

This practice is a beautiful and gentle opportunity to come to peace in the present moment, releasing worry, anger, and fear in the body while opening it to compassion. Facilitated by Dallas Meditation Center directors, Bobbie Perkins and Cornell Kinderknecht.

These practices are derived from the Buddha’s teachings and the Plum Village practices that honor those teachings.

Deep relaxation – Lying down or seated, you will be guided in a meditation that invites your body and mind to relax, offers gratitude to your body, and restores the balance of body, mind, and spirit.

Touching the Earth – Connect with our blood ancestors, our land ancestors, and our spiritual ancestors. After a brief reading related to each group of ancestors, you will be invited to touch the Earth and deeply experience your connection to those ancestors, seeing the positive qualities in your own life, and releasing what is not beneficial into the earth to be transformed.

Mats, blankets, and cushions (for pillows) will be provided. You may bring your own blanket if you like.

Together we’ll enjoy an opportunity to rest, release, and renew. We look forward to seeing you!

“Wherever we are, we can be in touch with the earth…..we can bow down to receive its energy of stability and fearlessness….we release all of our fear, anxiety, and anger…and strengthen our capacity to look, speak and act with understanding and compassion towards ourselves and others.” — Thich Nhat Hanh, Touching the Earth
