On Sunday, our guest speaker will be Ashley Wilkerson. I’m really pleased that Ashley is able to join us and grateful for the technology that makes that possible. Her website describes her as “a heart-centered Actress, Poet, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, and Wellness Practitioner, who uses her gifts to bring more love, truth, and healing to the world.”
That description is very true! I hope you’ll join me on Sunday when Ashley will speak on the topic Say Less – The Power of Sacred Pause. This is what she says about her talk: “We are living in a time where there is so much noise and; confusion, it’s crucial that we practice deep listening, think before we speak, and in some cases, simply observe.”
I look forward to meditating, singing, and sharing with you when we gather for Awakening Heart Sangha on Sunday, August 14, from 5 – 7pm CDT.
Peace, love, and joy to all,
Bobbie
In the animated movie Shrek, when the great ogre is attempting to explain the nature of ogres to his friend, the donkey, he says, "Onions have layers. Ogres have layers." This simple metaphor also applies to the human mind. In the practice of meditation, we move through layers of being, arriving at a greater depth of experience: the core of our "onion"-mind. The teachings of the Buddha help to illuminate what it means to live from this core layer.
Please join speaker Nic Bellegarde as we peel back the layers of our own minds, journeying toward the source of being.

On the first Wednesdays of each month, Interbeing Sangha discusses the #fivemindfulnesstrainings that were written by Thich Nhat Hanh to present a Buddhist contribution to a global ethic. Do you wonder why he called them trainings? Here is what he said:
“The Five Mindfulness Trainings are called trainings because they are something to practice each day, not something we’re expected to do perfectly all the time. They are there to remind us of our aspirations and our commitment. Practicing them, we continue to learn and to deepen our practice and our understanding.”
